Please do not follow this ladies directions! Read your carseat manual for the proper way to clean carseat straps. Putting them in the washing machine voids the warranty and can cause them to fail in an accident!
Car seat straps are not supposed to be submerged in water. Please read your manual to find out the proper way to clean those straps, and do not put your children in the seat again until you have ordered new straps from the manufacturer.
Holy crap, that’s ridiculously unsafe! You should NOT use that car seat after you’ve put those straps in the wash. You need to order new straps from the manufacturer immediately before ever putting your kids in those seats again. Did you ever even bother to read the manuals for any of your car seats?
I have done TONS of research on car seat safety and belong to car seat safety boards. I can tell you 100% certainty that you are NOT EVER supposed to put car seat straps in the wash machine!!! In fact, you’re not even supposed to use anything but soapy water (with MILD soap) when sponge cleaning them. Have you even READ your car seat manuals????
Please read the instructions in your car seat manual as to the proper and safe way to wash the harness straps. Then, make a new video. Car seat straps should be washed with a sponge or damp wash cloth. You can even scrub with a toothbrush and baking soda. Never, never, never use detergent on a harness or submerge it in water.
I am a child passenger safety technician (car seat tech). You cannot, cannot wash the harness in the washing machine. The detergent and agitation can damage and weaken the fibers of the harness. If you refer to the car seat manual, it will inform you the proper way to clean the harness is to sponge it clean with a damp sponge.
I agree with umothra. You are never supposed to wash straps in a washing machine, or submerge them in water at all. You are only supposed to spot clean them.
you can NOT wash car seat straps. You need to replace the harness on all your car seats that you washed. Washing the straps destroys them and makes them unsafe to use.
