What happens if I get pregnant while on the pill?

I’ve been on Yaz for about six months to deal with my PMDD. I haven’t been sexually active during this time, but I’m planning on it in a few weeks. I’m obviously not planning on getting pregnant as I am on the pill, but I’d like to know the facts. So I have a few questions:

1. How can you tell if you’re pregnant while on the pill?
2. Are symptoms still the same?
3. What do I do in that situation?

Thanks for any help, and I’d love if you had any personal expericence!

    1. No period
    2. Yes they all are but all women have different symptoms but yes u do get them
    3. Stop taking the pills ASAP and see a OB

Symptoms are usually still the same. And since you have been on for about 6 months, i think the symptoms will be very obvious.

In the situation, i would stop taking the birth control immediately and make an appointment with a doctor.

    1. you cant tell it your pregnant on the pill. you just wait for your period and if it doesn’t come take a test. and if it says negative get a blood test from the docs.

    2. yes symptoms are still the same.

    3. if you do become pregnant stop taking the pills and tell your doctor right away.

Ive been on lo ovral for about 2 years now. my boyfriend and i of 4 1/2 years also use the pull out method with my birth control and we have never had a mistake. so i like it.

    hope this helped.

Well, it may be hard to tell that you are pregnant if you are on the pill… BUT, I am assuming that your normal periods (placebo pill time) would stop or change in some way. Every woman and every pregnancy is different, so you may or may not have pregnancy symptoms. If you were to become pregnant while taking YAZ, stop taking it and follow up with your doctor. The birthcontrol will not harm the fetus- but should be discontinued.

    1. It would be the same as if you weren’t on the pill, you would either stop getting your period, or you would spot lightly.
    2. All pregnancy symptoms are different with each person, you may or may not experience them, it depends on your body. Common signs in the first trimester that everyone seems to share is the frequent urination, itching and increase in discharge.
    3. If you ended up getting pregnant, you would immediately stop taking your birth control pills and you would go see your doctor as soon as you can. There isn’t any evidence saying that birth control can affect your baby if you continued using it (not knowing you’re pregnant), but there also isn’t any evidence saying that it won’t affect your baby.

I got pregnant on the pill too. I JUST had my baby girl a week ago.

    1. you miss your period, take a pregnancy test if you did miss it
    2. they should be, every ones different though, I didn’t have any symptoms, or much of any throughout the pregnancy
    3. stop taking the pills right away because they can be dangerous for the baby

I got pregnant while I was on YAZ birth control

    1. I missed a period and started to get pregnancy symptoms, sore breasts, cramping, nausea, and vomiting

    2. The symptoms are exactly the same as in a regular pregnancy

    3. If you do end up getting pregnant then you will need to create a plan for yourself and your baby. For me I decided to keep the baby and me and my boyfriend are now engaged and really excited to meet her.

If your not ready for pregnancy I would suggest using back-up protection, such as condoms.
